About us
Provector was established by Mike Kellaway in 1999 following a career in automotive, energy supply, instrumentation, seismic risk and product development consultancy sectors, mainly in technical and management roles. Prior to establishing Provector, Mike was a co-founder of Wavedriver, a start-up company with corporate funding developing and supplying advanced electric vehicle drivetrains. At the time that Mike left to start Provector, Wavedriver had customers worldwide and had grown to 40 staff.
Provector adopted a new model of product development, using small teams of highly qualified and experienced engineers with overlapping skills. This led to a high level of innovation and facilitated detailed reviews of each other's work, thereby eliminating almost all minor implementation errors. This was illustrated in Provector only having to relay a few PCBs in their history, and these only requiring minor modifications. "Right first time" was always our objective.
Provector has worked in several market areas and for clients in many countries. Our projects generally contain embedded electronics as the key element and several have power electronics rated up to 200kW
Key application areas have been:
- Battery systems
- Automotive including F1
- Military
- Scientific instrumentation
Embedded software has been an important element of our offering and we have specialised on high-performance implementations with deterministic timing and fast response. Our work has increasingly used remote communications over wireless links of various kinds, the most extensive being a worldwide network of remote air quality monitors using the cellular network developed for our sister company Atmospheric Sensors Ltd.
